Faqs

The following information is provided to answer some of the more common questions we are asked about your cabinetry and/or countertop order and installation project.

1. Cabinet delivery to your house typically occurs between three and eight weeks after placing your order. You will be given an approximate delivery date usually within two to three weeks. Cabinets are delivered to your house by the cabinet manufacturer on their truck or by a third party specialized delivery service.

2. If you hire us to tear-out and haul away your old cabinets, we will disconnect your sink if working shut off valves are available. If not, you will need to hire a plumber before we begin tearing out your cabinets. Some mess may be created with the tear out of your cabinets as well as possible damage to your walls. Oftentimes, there is existing wall damage that has been hidden by the old cabinets. Depending on the amount or type of damage, you may need to have additional work performed before or after we install your new cabinets. While we are very careful when working in your home, minor wall and paint damage may occur. You may need to make minor repairs after your cabinets and countertops are installed.

3. In order to keep our prices competitive, we do not accept any returns. The cabinets we offer are semi-custom and are not returnable to the manufacturers. Our designers take a lot of time and care designing your kitchen with you to make sure the final design is just how you would like it.

4. If you are ordering wood cabinets, please be aware that all woodgrain, pigmented or natural finishes will exhibit some color changes over time. Wood cabinets will also have streaks and spots that are caused by variations in the minerals and acids in the soil in which the tree was grown. These natural variations in graining and color are inherent in the wood. It is the beauty and nature of wood to have these variations and they are not considered a reason for replacement. Any doors with excessive variation in the finish would be replaced at our expense.

5. When you purchase cabinets and/or countertops along with installation, our payment terms are a 50% deposit at the time of the order, 30% at the time of the cabinet delivery and the balance at the completion of the project. If you purchase cabinets from us without our providing the installation, payment terms are 100% at time of order.

6. If we are providing your countertops, we will schedule an appointment to build templates for your new countertops as soon as possible after the installation of your cabinets. Please plan on being home when the templating occurs to answer any questions as well as to view and approve the configuration of the new countertop. We strive to install countertops within two weeks after the templates are built. Clients who have purchased both cabinets and countertops from us have priority over those clients who have only purchased countertops. It is important that you have your sink and all faucets you would like cutouts for at your house at the time we template.

7. When the countertop is being installed, it is important that you are present to approve the locations of the holes for faucets, dispensers, etc. If you have a dishwasher, it must be in place before we install the countertop so we can secure it to the countertop.

8. After installing new cabinets and/or countertops, the top of the new countertop may be at a height different from your original countertop. You may find your pass through windows, electrical boxes; paint and wallpaper lines, etc. may no longer work or need to be adjusted. We will adjust whatever we can, but in some instances you may need to your hire a specialized tradesman to make the adjustment.

9. We carry liability and workers comp insurance. We will provide you a copy upon your request.

10. The contents of your existing cabinets must be removed prior to our arrival to tear-out your old cabinets. We ask that any items that are breakable be removed from the kitchen and surrounding rooms that adjoin the kitchen and through which our workers must pass or in which we may stock cabinets.

11. Please provide a path to the kitchen work area that is least disruptive to your home for the delivery and storage of cabinets and as a path for workers.

12. Our installation crews will make every effort to control dust. However, there are always dust particles that will permeate beyond the installation area, and these may cause you some additional cleaning efforts when the job is completed.

13. Our goal is to make the replacement of your cabinets and countertops as painless as possible. The kitchen is the most difficult room in a home to remodel because it contains electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. We sometimes run into problems that can not be anticipated, but will always make you aware of situations we may encounter and assist in their resolution to the best of our ability.

14. The care and maintenance for your new countertops is described at our website, www.silestoneofsouthflorida.com. We encourage you to review the information at that site to further answer any questions you may have about your new countertops.
